slachtafval: The Lingchi ( 凌迟,“slow slicing”) was a method of prolonged torture and execution used in China until its abolition in the early 1900’s. In Lingchi, the condemned person is subject to a prolonged, agonizing death in which smaller and/or larger chunks of flesh, skin, and bodily parts are sliced and cut from their body over a longer period of time. This picture depicts a public Lingchi execution in Beijing around the year 1905.
